The abandonment of buildings and schools, among other things, worries the people of Pepin

At first glance, the urban center of San Sebastián looks diaphanous. The parish whose patron is, precisely, San Sebastián Mártir , seems to guard the Ángel Gabriel Mislán Huertas public square, with its majestic fountain and its imposing shield, surrounded by historical buildings, such as the Mayor's House, the History Museum and the Historical Archive of the town.

“I don't have anything negative to say about San Sebastián. There are some things, like everywhere, but, in short, Pepino is good,” said Ángela Pérez , a resident of the urban area, alluding to how the municipality is also known.

However, after a few seconds of thought, Pérez herself identified a problem that deserves attention in her town.

Of course, there are many abandoned buildings. Many houses that people die and leave because they are inheritances that they allow to be lost ,” reflected the woman, who said she was a housewife.

In a short tour of Primera Hora through that town in the central western zone of the country, it was possible to identify some closed establishments, as well as abandoned or buildings in poor condition, including school buildings in which the bread of education is no longer taught. Some, like the Joaquín Oronoz Rodón school, are completely abandoned.

Sometimes they clean one or another to go vote (in elections), but nothing else. One has beautiful memories of those schools and seeing them like this is sad, ” recalled Glenn Alexander Crespo Inglés , a young man of just 16 years old who begins his fourth year of High School this semester.
